OILERS, HAND, TYPEWRITER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal specification
GGG-0-591, type V, style 1, 2, and 3.
Abstract. This CID covers the requirements for typewriter hand oilers. The oiler shall be of cold-rolled steel. The oiler shall consist essentially of a body, a washer, a threaded removable spout, and a spout cover or spout cap. Shape of the oiler shall be style 1, oval; style 2, cylindrical; or style 3, hemispherical, as specified in the contract or order.
Salient characteristics.
1. Style 1, oval shape oiler. Style 1 oiler shall be similar to figure 1, and shall comply with the requirements of table I. The oiler shall discharge one drop of typewriter oil through the tip end of the spout by tilting, or pressing the sides of the oiler with the fingers. It shall discharge several drops of oil through the tip of the spout by tilting the oiler and gently pressing the sides of the body with the fingers.
