2. Spout. The orifice at the outer end of the spot shall be not less than 0.060 ± 0.005-inch diameter. The small end of the spout shall be provided with a cap attached by a leakproof connection and be readily detachable. The large end of the spout shall be provided with an externally threaded sleeve having a knurled retainer containing two washers, one on each side of the knurled portion. The knurled retainer shall be located midway between the two threaded ends of the sleeve so that either end of the sleeve may be screwed into the can opening. The spout shall be straight.
3. Finish. The oiler shall be polished, brass or copper coated, or plated with an opaque lacquer or varnish, lacquered with an opaque lacquer, nickel plated, or a baked on enamel finish.
4. Marking. Each oiler shall be marked in a plain and permanent manner with the manufacturer’s name or with a trademark of such known character that the source of manufacturer may be readily determined.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard No. 376, and all other requirements of this CID are met.
If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request, should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing and marking. Unless otherwise specified in the contract-or-order, the packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
